History
Maple Valley was officially incorporated in 1997 and was originally named Vine Maple Valley. The name was pulled from a hat, but the Post Office removed the “Vine” part because the name was too long. The area schools are served by the Tahoma School District. The original Tahoma High School was built in 1906.

Lake Wilderness Golf Course is a public golf course, maintained by the City of Maple Valley and managed by Premier Golf Center, LLC. Our 18 Hole Course offers short, narrow fairways, testing all skill levels as well as rewarding the accurate shot maker. The large fir trees surrounding the course create a beautiful setting. You can now register online for your tee time at Lake Wilderness Golf Course! If this season brings company outings, charity events, or family gatherings, leave the hassle to the Lake Wilderness Golf Course Banquet and Events staff. Our professional staff will work closely to plan and manage your event from a casual breakfast meeting, to a wedding and reception for up to 260 guests. The room and the view will not disappoint you.

The Lake Wilderness Lodge is owned and operated by the City of Maple Valley. It was built in the early 1950's, and in 2003 the Lodge was added to the Washington Heritage Register of Historic Places. The Lodge provides a unique location to hold your wedding, reception, conference, or special event. The Lodge offers a spectacular view of the lake from all three floors and is spacious enough to allow for multi-use. Dance downstairs, dine on the main floor, or have a cozy chat on the mezzanine. The newly renovated Conference Wing offers nicely appointed meeting rooms with individual decks and several other rooms that can accommodate seminars, meetings and training sessions.
Office and tour hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no need to make an appointment, but there are private events that may have sessions during normal business hours, so please call ahead to confirm the availability of a tour. For reservations and information please call 425-432-9953. The Lake Wilderness Lodge is closed on all City Holidays and Christmas Eve.
