About Starlene

Starlene Ward of RE/MAX Performance Plus works hard to get your deal done right. Starlene worked for two years as a REALTOR® and for 15 years as an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager to a prominent Land Developer/Broker. With these experiences under her belt, Starlene gained real-world experience in working with builders, banks, counties, cities, and solving problems, as well as the urge to see what the sales aspect was like. She attended Green River Community College and later Renton Technical College where she received a Drafting Certificate that enabled her to work at Boeing for 10 years as a CADDS Drafter. Today, Starlene Ward has a certificate for VA Home Loans, as well as a variety of other awards and certificates.

Deciding to pursue her own independence and help others to realize their dream of home ownership, Starlene loves meeting new people and helping them fulfill their housing dreams. Starlene works with a variety of properties including bank owned properties, short sales, residential, commercial, condominiums, and even land development. She works mainly with first-time homebuyers and investors, but Starlene Ward is always looking for opportunities to add variety to the areas and clients she specializes in.

Starlene understands what its like to be a first-time homebuyer herself and offers this piece of friendly advice; “Get pre-qualified, understand all the costs involved in homeownership”. She recommends getting pre-qualified so that you know what you can afford and how much you can anticipate for the down payment and closing costs. “When looking at a house, remember to consider whether the house would be easy to resale when [you] are ready to move up.” According to Starlene, the conditions of the Kent area are good for both buyers and sellers, especially first-time homebuyers or investors. “There are lots of opportunities to get into a great home, even a new home, and interest rates are the best they have been in years. It’s a good time to move up into your ‘Dream Home’ or to make your first step in homeownership by purchasing now in order to gain equity as the market continues to recover and prices continue to climb.”

As a life-long citizen of the Kent area, married for 22 years, and the proud parent of a son, a daughter-in-law, and a beautiful grandson; Starlene loves her life and her career choice. Her favorite parts of real estate are meeting new people, making new friends, and her amazing office and coworkers. “I have a terrific Broker and all of the agents in our office work in harmony with each other and are very helpful to each other.” However, most of all Starlene loves helping people realize their dreams of owning a home that meets their needs and price point.

A good agent, in Starlene’s eyes, needs to be able to listen to their clients and be more concerned with their needs than just making the sale. A good agent has perseverance, a willingness to become knowledgeable on the properties that their clients are going to look at prior to their arrival, and the ability to really listen to what a client wants and needs. Starlene fulfills this ideal of a good agent through spending time with all of her clients and learning what they are looking for in a property and letting them choose what works and does not work for them. Starlene also has the advantage of having lived in and around Kent and Renton her entire life. “I know the area well, what each area offers, not only as a community, but also the neighborhoods, schools, shopping, etc.” She is also familiar with most of King and Pierce Counties, as well as the surrounding areas.

Starlene loves the Kent area with its expansive shopping district nearby, seasonal waterskiing and snow skiing, sports for all ages, attractive eateries, exceptional movie theaters, great music venues, and so much more. She tells us that Washington is a great place to live, offering a plethora of activities, schools, resources, and businesses. Also, the economy is recovering quickly and there are lots of opportunities for employment. Starlene states, “When it’s sunny in Seattle, there is no more beautiful day anywhere.”
